BRC Attack Round 1 Rallye Sunseeker

After the cold and icy conditions of the Wyedean Rally, the P&R Benn team head to Bournemouth for the heat of Rallye Sunseeker which is the first round of the British Rally Championship (BRC). This weekend the team will field 4 cars in total, 2 Ford Fiesta R2s in the International event and 2 Ford Focus WRCs in the National event which follows the same route as the International.

Using the recent Wyedean Rally as shakedown before an assault on the BRC Matthew Cathcart is back at home in the driving seat after taking a break from rallying. With James Morgan calling the notes, this young crew will hope to improve on a strong 28th overall finish on the Wyedean Rally and hopefully gain a good haul of points for the BRC. Rallye Sunseeker is the first chance the crew will get to judge their pace in the RHD Ford Fiesta R2 against the rest of the BRC crews.

The team are also running a LHD Ford Fiesta R2 for Tom Cave while his new car is being built. Tom will have the experienced Craig Parry beside him and will need to acclimatise to the 2wd car again but should be on the pace after spending the past few seasons in the BRC.

After having to miss the Wyedean Rally due to business commitments, Michael and Daniel O’Brien are relishing getting behind the wheel again after finishing 2011 strongly. Michael will drive the Ex Ken Block Focus 08 WRC and plans to contest the full BTRDA Rally Championship; Paul Spooner takes up the navigators seat for Rallye Sunseeker. After switching from the 2wd Ford Fiesta R2 to the Ford Focus 02 WRC last year, Daniel just seems to get quicker and quicker each time he is in the car and with a full BTRDA and Welsh Rally Championship assault planned this year Daniel will be flat out. Daniel will have Paul Morris guiding him on the stages for this year.
